Volunteers needeed for RiverLink natural resources advisory committee
RiverLink is forming a new Natural Resources Volunteer Advisory Committee, whose mission will be to expand on RiverLink’s efforts to revitalize the French Broad River and its tributaries as a place to work, live and play by providing expert advice on natural resources that are relevant to the French Broad watershed.Â
Naturally, RiverLink’s primary focus is water quality, but we all know that in any ecosystem water quality is affected by (and affects) other natural resources. RiverLink is recruiting a committee of experts who will be called upon to assist with watershed issues pertaining to a range of natural resources, including: Forestry/ Botany • Biology/ Wildlife • Land use (filled) • Air quality (filled)Â
On December 20 RiverLink filled the Air Quality expert position and welcomed the first member of the committee, Keith Bamberger.Â
On January 9th RiverLink filled the Land Use expert position and welcomed the second committee member, Dave Nutter. Dave has over 30 years experience as a city, town and regional planner and has worked on projects throughout the east coast. RiverLink is excited to have his expertise as a resource for protecting the French Broad watershed.
RiverLink is still recruiting for the first two positions. The organization intends to make this a diverse committee comprised of a broad cross-section of our community: academics, city employees, business owners, and non-profits will all be considered and are encouraged to apply.Â
This position is on a volunteer basis, and time commitment will be minimal. Committee members will be asked to:Â
Attend biannual committee meetings • Design an educational presentation to present for the public as part of a series of natural resource lessons • Be available for consultation on specific issues relating to area of expertiseÂ
Only one committee member will be accepted for each area of expertise, so please send in applications as soon as possible and specify which position you are applying for (see positions above). Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until positions are filled, and RiverLink expects to hold the first meeting in early 2007.Â
If interested, send a etter of interest (specifying your area of expertise), a résumé, including related work experience and education, and two references to Kathryn Blau at:Â
